Random character notes
Disclaimer here as well as on the profile.
Basic Character Overview:
As there are several versions of Deal or No Deal that air around the world, just to clarify, this journal follows the events of the US version of the show.
The Banker sits in a shadowy office calculating offers for contestants based on the amounts of money still left in play. (26 cases with amounts ranging from one penny to one million dollars). He's usually in a rather bitter mood (unless of course, a contestant is not doing so well.) He's also got quite an ego and is ironically vain for someone that hides in the shadows.
How I write the character:
The model for most of the Banker's speech and personality comes from The Banker's Blog over at NBC's Official Deal or No Deal website.
I do factor in events from the show into his personality as well. (If there's ever a slight conflict between the two sources, the show wins.) So, how I write him here is a sort combination of two sources plus one bit of canon variation - I've made him far more verbose for this journal. (Hey, the official blog entries are rather short!)
Reality vs. Fiction:
While the Banker is in the 'Real Person Fiction' section of Theatrical Muse, I do know he technically isn't a 'real person.' There are a couple of people (at least) that make up the persona. Of course, everyone around him is real (i.e. Howie Mandel, the models and the contestants).
The show is playing with the idea he is one actual person though so that's how he'll be here. And, whatever happens on the show is canon for the character (no matter how over the top things can get *g*).
As it was one time noted in the credits that the figure in the shadows was an actor named Peter Abbay, I've borrowed 'Peter' as the pup's first name. (Though this is player knowledge only, unless pup tells your muse.) I have not decided on his last name yet.
I read somewhere the figure in the shadows is 41, so that's the basic age the pup is.
The 'Out of the Shadows' Pics:
Okay, disclaimer time. The actor in these pics is Timothy Hutton. (He's in no way part of DoND or anything. No, I don't know for real with The Banker looks like.) I just kinda thought his look worked for the character.
Those images are to be considered Player Knowledge Only. (Unless the pup reveals himself to your muse.)
The only exception is the 'Out of the Shadows - Kid' pic. That's Freddie Highmore pictured. Another case where I thought his look just worked. The kid pic is not limited to player knowledge.
And yeah, that was a ramble and a half. But hey, I do have a bit of an unconventional muse. *g*
